brilliant lack of adventure

*. That’s what appears whenever I click a SocialSpark-sponsored link. No idea what’s wrong with their site, but that’s how I “stumbled across it”. I’m a bit bothered by the lack of opps I can take on SocialSpark, and thanks to them not telling me why, I’m not sure I’ll stick around terribly long. Can’t fix a problem if I don’t know what it is. We shall see, maybe those 5 bucks is all I’ll bother/end up making. Was going to take an opportunity from G4 to write a game review, but apparently I’m not qualified for some reason. Oh well.

socialspark - more money to burn

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Hi all.

Recently, I have been trying to make a bit of money for a few things, like, say, a Nook, and stumbled upon SocialSpark. Though I found it somewhat by accident, I was intrigued and did proceed to make an account, which was quite easy, and I like how the site works quite a bit. For those of you who don’t know what SocialSpark is, it’s a service that allows bloggers and advertisers to connect to put advertisments on blogs, and money in bloggers’ wallets in return. This post in itself should earn me 5 bucks, so I suppose there isn’t much to lose, and a whole lot to win. But if you’re worried I may put adverts on my blog, have no fear. I shall not display advertising to my fellow readers (or bloggers), rather, I have focused more on writing for pay. I need a good reason to update my blog more, anyway, so from now on I should have partially sponsored posts, partially personal. It should be pretty obvious which is which from the code snippets I’m required to post at the top and bottom of sponsored posts.

Anyway, SocialSpark should help me earn some extra cash when I’m not working on web design, and though I have no idea how well this will work out for me, or how much I’ll end up earning, it’s a win for me in the end, even if all I get out of this is the 5 dollars for the entry post. So here’s to SocialSpark, and here’s to 5 bucks! Cheers!

hosting, etc.

Haven’t been keeping up lately. That’s a normal thing for me and blogs, the whole not-keeping-up thing, but I’ve been considering a Nook (like the Kindle, but better, for those who don’t know what they are) and working on webdesign. Got a new, $200 contract, which in my opinion should probably be worth more, but it allows me to get some very, very nice hosting for me and some other people to share from http://mediatemple.net, my new best friends. That’s about all for now, back to design, sleep, and some other stuff. Alien Swarm is a great game, by the way. So is EndWar.

more music, anyone?

Haven’t posted in a while. Here’s some fun music, and I’m off to buy an Amazon gift card so I can buy a few Kindle books, thanks to the new Kindle reader for Android/PC, which I shall happily use.

linked, synced, and inked

I was intrigued by the idea of posting any song I happened to be listening to in Grooveshark Desktop, which has become my go-to application for music over the past several months. I knew that the only social site Grooveshark has officially implemented a linking system for was Last.fm, so I worked out the following system:

  1. Grooveshark scrobbles to Last.fm
  2. A Perl script running in the background on my computer, which I found through a number of queries and links, recieves this scrobble
  3. The Perl script then sends “I’m currently listening to [song title] - [artist]” to Twitter.
  4. Twitter posts to Facebook

In other, more interesting (and less tech-oriented) news, I’m vastly enjoying my sketchbook, and I’m using the mess-up or spare pages that have little drawn on them to store quotes on a quest to memorize approximately 5 quotes a day for the next few months, or possibly years. We shall see. Yes, I’ll post the exceptionally good quotes here.

Haven’t posted in a few days, been using my new sketchbook and pens, photo above. Maybe I’ll post a sketch or two once I practice a bit more.

You must live for today, because yesterday is gone, and tomorrow may never come.
Another awesome street photo. Credit goes to *MisterKey on deviantART. In other news, I ordered the Sweet Balance of Vinyl poster from deviantART, along with new drawing pens, a writing pen, and an 8x8 sketchpad from Blick.
